Dollar Menus

On my way home today I drove through Mc Donalds and ordered a 99c cheeseburger and as I was munching down on this combination of greasy ground beef and pasteurized cheese instead of being disgusted by the lack of nutrition, I was more inspired by the fact that it was a mere 99c. How can they possibly make money off a 99c burger? They have to pay for the meat, the bun, the cheese, the condiments, the store, the staff, the list is endless. That's a lot for a 99c burger to handle. I guess in the end it boils down to quantity, when you buy 100,000 meat patties they can't be more than 5c each, but it's still amazing that they can produce food at such low prices. And Mc Donalds isn't the first one doing it. You can get nachos at Taco Bell for less than a dollar, a frosty at Wendys, fast food joints everywhere are catching onto the "value menu" marketing strategy. So next time you drive through one of these chains and pick up that 99c burger, think about all that went into it, it's really impressive.
